The Version Update Has Arrived! (06/21/2010)



The June version update is here, marking the arrival of "Vision of Abyssea", the first in the Abyssea series of battle add-ons set to offer epic new challenges to adventurers who would take up arms under the sunless skies of this forbidding realm.

But that's not all! This update will feature the long-awaited lifting of the level cap, accompanied by a host of new weapon skills and job abilities. Adventurers can also venture into the newly unlocked Walk of Echoes and experience the climactic conclusions of the Wings of the Goddess nation quests. There's bound to be something for everyone!

Players are also encouraged to revisit the Vision of Abyssea site, where the latest information on the formidable set of arms known as "Empyrean Weapons" has been revealed.

Don't worry Mal. It's only five levels, and you can Campaign/SMN burn/Fields of Valor all that while looking for party. Then, just hang out with us in TCD to skill up whatever you need or want capped.

Before I hear any complaints... My BLU. First and only Lv.75 job since June 2004, got it to that level two years after Treasures of Aht Urghan came out so I was no longer in Lv.50 WHM damnation. I pretty much got most of my EXP from 65 to 75 via Campaign and Besieged, and farming in Promyvion. Just take your time, it is not a race.

I have to laugh, I logged in this morning and did a /sea all 76-80 and came up with 808 ppl. So I checked /sea all 80 and there were 6 on. Less than 24 hours and ppl are capped again, lol. I could only wish for that much spare time.

I have to think it's all the above, cause in that short a time you could only use an Allied Ring and Emp Band once. It must have been like the Boston Marathon, ppl lined up trying to be the first to 80.
Atleast the tnl only increases 500xp each level from 75-80.

I'm betting a lot of people like myself capped exp to 1 tnl for their jobs in anticipation of the updates. I got 76 last night, but didn't do much after that.

I'll probably work on corsair first, since getting exp on it is much easier, then work on BLM.

I'm sure people have been looking up interesting info, but here's some of the stuff I got:
-Abyssea seems to work a bit on a tag-like system like in Nyzul Isle where you can get an entry key item and store up to 3 (later 4), each one worth about half an hour thus far. You can re-enter every 60 minutes, but the "tags" renew up to 4 every 20 hours. So you could probably do a long run every 3 days or twice a week, or just do a short one every day.
-New BLM spells are in Windy [S], new WHM spells are in Rabao.
-Bolter's Roll wears off when attacked or attacking, but it does stack with movement gear. No news yet on Caster's Roll, but due to its wording, it should shorten both casting and recast time for spells.
-Empyrean weapons seem to be the end result of Trial of the Magians. While the Empyrean weapons are a result of the DMG+ paths, it looks like several of the others also got additional trials, so if you chose one of those, you may still have some good options (I'm actually eyeing a Spitfire, which looks pretty comparable).
-The CoP boss battles are uncapped, but it doesn't look like they've upped their level any. The lower ones look pretty soloable now. (tbh, kinda sad )
-New WSs seem to be unlocked at around 300 skill, no quests required.

When hunting in old hunting spots, I discovered Idle Wanderers. They are incredibly tough to Lv.75 players. /glee

Really digging BLU/DNC and still having dual wield. I maybe crazy, but screw shadows! Now if only BLU can get up to dual wield 2 with spell combo, and still make decent cannonball damage with /THF... I'd think I've died and gone to Valhalla...
